Start syncing, stop sinking
The power of alignment
When you feel stressed or overwhelmed, it's often because things aren't happening the way you think they should. You try so hard to control things to make them fit your version of how it's meant to be, that you become exhausted. Or else, you may feel powerless and get that sinking feeling.
The good news is that there is another way.
Thinking (something to think about)
It's your mind that's causing most of these issues, as you tell your self that things shouldn't be this way. This might come in the form of stress, anger, frustration, anxiety or upset. You may even try and force the situation to be the way you think it should be.
It's your mental resistance that's causing the issue. As Michael A. Singer captures so well in ‘The Surrender Experiment’ we overlay our own set of preferences onto a situation that are based purely on what we want to happen. He says we can't control what is happening right now (because it's happened), but we can control how we respond. We do this by accepting that it's just our conflict of reality versus our expectation that we have the issue with.
It's up to us whether we buy into that narrative, or just go with the flow of what life is putting in front of us.
Unthinking (something to stop thinking about): Stop thinking it should always be the way you expect it to be.
You can't change the situation in this instant, but you can change how you respond to your expectations of it.
If your expectation doesn't eventuate, don't hold on to the thought about why it's not happening the way you wanted, and how that makes you feel.
Syncing
Let go for a moment of how it should be, and get in sync with how it actually is. Watch, listen, feel what's happening around you and get out of your head. Maybe someone didn't call you back when they said they would, or someone refused to do what you asked - again. Whatever it was, accept it for now, whether you like it or not.
A future moment may be different, but for now accept how it is.
If you can do that, stress will start to dissolve.
