Whatever next!
When you bite into a piece of fruit do you taste it, or are you already thinking about the next bite you need to take?
Salvador Dali famously used to take a bite of a peach and then throw the rest in the ocean. He said it made sure he experienced the maximum enjoyment of the bite he had taken, rather than thinking about the next bite, or whatever else his mind tried to distract him with.
Is your mind always thinking about the next thing you have to do, whether that's a bite of an apple or an upcoming meeting? For many of us it is, and by living in our heads in a state of continual thought, it can add to the daily stresses of life.
If you want to reduce those stressors, start by just by focusing on what you're doing right now. You’re much more likely to find a sense of calm by being aware of the present moment, rather than worrying about what may or may not happen next.
Don't miss out on what you're experiencing right now, by always thinking about what's coming.
Next time you eat a piece of fruit or snack, try it out and see for yourself…
